Right of Access to Public Information

The course is aimed to highlight the theoretical and practical issues of the right of access to public information, the best international standards in this area, as well as to explain the meaning and value of freedom of information, to reveal the legal nature and difference between the right of access to information about the activities of the state authorities and the right to freedom of the media (freedom of information) as well as the right to request. The course also aims to explain the legal grounds for restricting the right of access to information, including the application of the three-tier test (part 2 of Article 6 of the Law of Ukraine “On Access to Public Information”) and the principles of the law. Students get the opportunity to acquire the skills of practical application of laws in the field of access to information.
