The elective professionally-oriented course “Logic” is a necessary part of the study of professional legal disciplines, aimed at forming the independent thinking of a law student, basing on the ability to apply the fundamental laws of formal and dialectical logic, to carry out logical operations with concepts (generalization, distinction, definition, division, classification, etc.), to establish logical relations between judgments, to find out their composition, types of modality (alethic, epistemic, deontic), to operate with the main types of inferences (direct inferences, simple categorical syllogism, complex judgments), and to master the basic concepts of predicate logic.
