Control Mechanisms for Ensuring the Protection of Human Rights
The course aims to provide students with a basic knowledge of international mechanisms within the UN as means of monitoring compliance with human rights obligations. The course examines the UN committees established under the core UN human rights conventions, as well as the political bodies within the UN. Particular attention is paid to the UN Human Rights Committee and the UN Human Rights Council. The procedure of individual requests to the UN committees is considered.
