Guest course “Artificial intelligence. Legal issues and regulation in the EU”
“Artificial intelligence: legal issues and regulation in the EU” is an applied interdisciplinary course that introduces students to the specifics of artificial intelligence regulation in the EU and the current legal challenges arising from the rapid development of artificial intelligence. Through practical tasks and the EU acquis, students will consider issues such as: artificial intelligence and justice; artificial intelligence and public administration; artificial intelligence and human rights, equality before the law, and non-discrimination; compliance with the rule of law, legal certainty, and proportionality in the legal regulation of artificial intelligence; artificial intelligence and ethics; artificial intelligence and intellectual property law; artificial intelligence and legal liability; transparency in the field of artificial intelligence, etc. Students will participate in scientific discussions on issues such as: granting legal personality to artificial intelligence systems, granting artificial intelligence systems the legal status of authors and inventors, etc. In addition, students will gain an understanding of the basic technical aspects of artificial intelligence. The main focus of the course will be on the legal regulation of artificial intelligence in the EU. Upon completion of the course, students will gain comprehensive knowledge of both the EU acquis on artificial intelligence and theoretical and practical issues, the understanding of which is necessary for the proper integration of artificial intelligence into legal practice and finding answers to AI-related questions from a legal perspective.
