Riabukha Olha. How Online Registration of Residence Simplifies the Routine of IDPs in Ukraine
Russia occupied Maria’s city. Maria and her child had to flee their home, find a new place to live, a new job and kindergarten, and start a new life. To receive several state services and social allowances for IDPs, Maria has to provide a special document — a residence certificate. To do that, she would probably need to take a day off from her new job to go to an administrative center, wait in line for a couple of hours, request that one paper, and then go through the same circles of bureaucratic hell to pick up the certificate. She would need to do it. But she does not need to anymore.
A new service allowing Ukrainians to register a place of residence online and obtain the respective certificate is a game changer. Introduced by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine with the support of the Swiss-Ukrainian EGAP Program of East Europe Foundation, this service is bound to make the lives of over a million Ukrainians easier.
