The most prevalent cases of dichotomy of spirit and letter of law in foreign and native practice are investigated in this article. It contains analysis of reasons for using methods of interpretation which are based on the spirit of law but not on the letter. Besides that, some issues of native legal system connected with problem of spirit of law are highlighted there too.
