Modern Inheritance Law: Reflecting on the Rights of Unmarried Partners

Yesterday, our lecturers – Assoc. Prof. Iryna Dzera and Assoc. Prof. Tetiana Fedosieieva – participated in the international webinar “Family and Succession Law SIG Hosts Webinar on Intestate Rights for Unmarried Partners,” dedicated to protecting the inheritance rights of unmarried partners.

In today’s world, when family models are changing and the number of marriages is decreasing, protecting the rights of those who choose alternative ways to build family relationships becomes especially important. Experts from Albania, Czechia, Ukraine, and Norway shared their experiences, examined the history and current state of legislation, and discussed challenges in inheritance law.

In our lecturers’ presentation “Intestate rights for unmarried partners as members of a deceased’s household in Ukraine,” the current state and future prospects of Ukrainian legislation were revealed, along with directions for its improvement.

The webinar was held as part of the European Succession Law Seminars (ESLS). Learn more on the European Law Institute (ELI) website.

We sincerely thank the organizers for hosting the event and for the opportunity to join the discussion on modern challenges in family and inheritance law!
