What is Scopus, and why does it matter?

Scopus is a global bibliographic and abstract database that indexes scientific journals, conference proceedings, and book series. Owned by Elsevier, it is one of the most authoritative platforms for evaluating the impact of academic publications.

The inclusion of a journal in Scopus is a rigorous process requiring adherence to high standards of academic integrity, editorial transparency, peer review quality, and publication impact. Scopus experts assess journals based on criteria such as publication regularity, citation rates, the international representation of authors and editorial board members, and the scholarly significance of published works. During the evaluation process, the Scopus committee particularly noted KMLPJ’s high citation rate and its clear and consistent focus on key research topics.

KMLPJ is now the third NaUKMA journal indexed in Scopus, following the inclusion of Kyiv-Mohyla Humanities Journal (2019) and Language: Classical – Modern – Postmodern (2024).
