Data Strategies: Practical Insights from Leading European Scholars

Is it possible to strike a balance between innovation, security, and human rights protection in the digital age? How can we design legal frameworks that account for the interests of businesses, the state, and the public at the same time?

During the opening lecture of the EU Digital Law Seminar Series, Prof. Dr. Moritz Hennemann from Universität Freiburg provided an in-depth examination of data strategies and regulatory frameworks across different legal systems and jurisdictions. The lecturer analyzed the standards and strategic approaches to the regulation and protection of data outlined in EU legislation. Prof. Dr. Hennemann emphasised the aims of legal regulation, as well as the data and actors covered by the respective legal norms.

The lecture included an analysis of current trends in the development of legal approaches to data governance, particularly addressing global challenges related to the cross-border movement of data. Prof. Dr Hennemann advised on valuable academic resources for deeper exploration of the topic and outlined perspectives for improving regulatory mechanisms.

In the upcoming sessions, we will continue exploring digital law alongside leading European experts.
