Foundations of German law (in English and German)
This is a one-semester bachelor’s course that will provide an introduction to the basic principles of German law. The course will provide an introduction to private and public law. Students are not expected to possess a good knowledge of German or German legal terminology. However, the German Law Institute also offers optional German language courses for every student. The first part of the course introduces several aspects of German history and the influence of German law at the international level. The course then introduces the judicial structure of German courts. The second part of the course presents the basic legal principles of private and public law, as well as the fundamentals of German contract law, German human rights, and German administrative law. At the end of the course, aspects of legal education and opportunities for Ukrainian students to study law in Germany will also be discussed.
