Upcoming Expert Discussion at the University of Oxford
On 24 April 2025, the Institute of European and Comparative Law at the University of Oxford will host the event:
“Elections and Media: Newest Challenges, Threats, and Response”.
Dr. Volodymyr Venher, Dean of the Faculty of Law at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, will deliver the opening address, give a presentation, and moderate one of the panels. Kyiv-Mohyla Academy will also be represented by Dr. Yurii Kliuchkovskyi, Associate Professor at the Department of General Theory of Law and Public Law.
Dr. Leah Trueblood, Fellow and Tutor in Public Law at Worcester College, will also serve as a moderator during the panel discussions.
The event will explore:
– The growing impact of disinformation and propaganda on elections;
– The role of media in shaping public trust during campaigns;
– Threats to electoral integrity and strategies to build resilience.
Two key sessions will address:
– Media environment and current challenges in election campaigns.
– Building trust by countering disinformation, hate speech, and manipulation.
