The Faculty of Law at NaUKMA continues to strengthen its international academic presence

A new professional development program — “Strengthening Ukraine’s Presence in Global Scholarship: Publishing in English” — has been launched at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (NaUKMA). Faculty of Law professors became the first cohort of participants in this initiative.

This program offers an excellent opportunity for Kyiv-Mohyla legal scholars to enhance their academic writing skills in English and expand their visibility in the global research community. It covers the full publication cycle — from choosing a journal and structuring a paper to English editing and submitting for publication.

The training is conducted by Ukrainian and American experts in both English and Ukrainian. Faculty members are working to confidently present their research in leading international law journals and to further improve their legal English proficiency.

This initiative continues the Faculty’s ongoing commitment to developing academic writing skills. In April–May 2025, a Faculty team led by Dean Volodymyr Venher and Head of the Department of Private Law Ivan Yatskevych participated in an academic writing seminar at Georgetown University (USA) — an experience that inspired the creation of the current program at NaUKMA.

The program was developed in cooperation with the Department of English Language at the Faculty of Humanities and the Office of the Vice President for Academic Studies, with the support of the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv and the Regional English Language Office, which provide expert participation from American specialists.

The Faculty also runs three English-learning groups for its teaching staff, allowing for consistent development of both linguistic and academic competencies.

We keep moving forward — with more initiatives and opportunities ahead for the professional growth and international visibility of the Faculty of Law at NaUKMA.
