Kyiv-Mohyla Hosts Conference in Memory of Professor Koziubra

More than 130 participants from Ukraine, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Spain, Italy, Armenia, Georgia, Cyprus, and the United States joined the academic and practical conference «General Theory of Law: Prospects for Development», held in memory of Professor Mykola Koziubra.

Over two days, the conference brought together scholars, judges, legal practitioners, representatives of civil society, as well as students and PhD candidates to reflect on Professor Koziubra’s scholarly legacy and to discuss contemporary challenges facing general legal theory amid the transformation of legal systems.

The discussion unfolded across five thematic panels focusing on:
– non-positivist approaches to law and overcoming the Soviet legal legacy;
– the influence of legal philosophy on the development of general jurisprudence;
– the implementation of the rule of law in law-making and law enforcement;
– future directions of legal argumentation in Ukraine;
– constitutional law as the foundation of the national legal system.

In addition to the academic programme, the conference included a cultural component: students of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy performed traditional carols and Baroque works, including the song «Angels, Descend» by Hryhorii Skovoroda.

The conference was made possible thanks to the support of our partners: OSCE projects in Ukraine, VASIL KISIL & PARTNERS, AVELLUM, and EVERLEGAL.
