Legal Clinic

Skolaris is a legal consultation center where students, under the supervision of faculty advisors, provide free primary legal assistance in the following areas:

  • protection of constitutional rights and freedoms of individuals and organizations;

  • civil, housing, family, labor, and social security law;

  • legal regulation of business and investment activities;

  • protection of the rights of youth and minors, and other related issues.

The Legal Clinic also organizes conferences, seminars, and training sessions on clinical legal education, as well as legal awareness and outreach activities.

In its work with clients, the Legal Clinic adheres to the principles of confidentiality and professional ethics. Legal consultations are provided to clients in written form by students under the guidance of experienced practitioners and faculty advisors.

The Clinic offers the course “Legal Practicum” (6 ECTS credits) taught by the Department of General Theoretical and Public Law: summer of the 3rd year, and fall–spring of the 4th year. This practice-oriented course allows students to develop client-interaction skills and gain experience in addressing civil, family, and housing law issues.

The Legal Clinic actively cooperates with public authorities, local self-government bodies, and non-governmental organizations. Our long-term partners include the Association of Legal Clinics of Ukraine, the International Charitable Foundation for the Revival of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, the OSCE Project Coordinator in Ukraine, the International Renaissance Foundation, the American Bar Association, the Ukrainian Legal Aid Foundation, the NGO “Legal Hundred,” the charitable organization Social Service “Vifania”, among others.
