NaUKMA law students make history with top-four finish at John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition

The Faculty of Law team from the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (NaUKMA) has achieved a historic milestone by advancing to the semifinals (top four) of the Final Oral Rounds of the John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition, one of the world’s most prestigious international student competitions in World Trade Organization (WTO) law.

This marks the best result in the history of NaUKMA’s participation in the competition and the second-best result ever achieved by a Ukrainian university.

The Final Oral Rounds took place in Geneva, bringing together 24 of the world’s leading teams, selected through regional rounds from a field of nearly 100 teams. This year’s moot court problem focused on the international legal aspects of trade in critical minerals — a topic of particular relevance to Ukraine in the current geopolitical context.

Reaching the semifinals reflects the Faculty of Law students’ exceptional preparation, in-depth knowledge of international economic law, persuasive oral advocacy skills, and strong teamwork.

We warmly congratulate the team and its coaches on this outstanding achievement and wish them continued success in future international competitions!

We extend our special gratitude to Serhiy Koziakov & Partners and all individual donors whose generous support made the team’s participation in the Final Oral Rounds in Geneva possible.
