NaUKMA law student wins final hackathon at “AI, Legal Technology and Operations” Summer School

We are proud to share that Anna Maksymchuk, a student at the Faculty of Law of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, participated in the “AI, Legal Technology and Operations” Summer School at Bucerius Law School and, together with her team, won the final Hackathon.

Over the course of three intensive weeks, participants explored the application of artificial intelligence across a wide range of legal fields, including copyright law, dispute resolution, legal service innovation, the legal market, and legal business.

Bringing together participants from 28 countries, the Summer School provided an exceptional environment for academic exchange, interdisciplinary collaboration, and building an international professional network.

One of the highlights of the programme was a study visit to Berlin, where participants visited the innovative law firm YPOG and leading LegalTech companies Flightright and RA-MICRO, gaining first-hand insight into technologies that are already transforming the legal profession.

The programme concluded with a two-day Hackathon, during which teams developed practical AI solutions for the legal sector and created functional prototypes.

Reflecting on the experience, Anna shared: “Our challenge was to develop an AI-powered alternative to traditional court proceedings that could help reduce the workload of courts. The two days of the Hackathon were incredibly intensive, inspiring, and rewarding. Teamwork, brainstorming, effective task allocation, and quick decision-making made this an unforgettable experience. I am especially proud that our AI solution was recognised by the jury as the winning project.”

Congratulations to Anna on this outstanding achievement! We wish her continued success in her academic and professional journey.
