NaUKMA students attend Summer School on International Trade Law and Dispute Resolution in Kraków

Students of Kyiv-Mohyla Faculty of Law took part in the Summer Drafting School in International Contract Law and Dispute Resolution at Uniwersytet Jagielloński w Krakowie.

The Faculty was represented by lecturer Проценко (Protsenko) Діана (Diana) and students Yurii Klius, Danyil Didyk, Varvara Perepelytsia, Zakhar Zakhorolskyi, Anna Kovacheva, and Roksolana Rudyk.

The programme focused on international commercial law, the CISG, arbitration agreements, and the economics of dispute resolution. During intensive workshops on memorandum drafting and alternative dispute resolution, participants applied their knowledge to complex cross-border scenarios.

Their practical work drew on the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot case, GreenHydro Plc v. Equatoriana RenPower Ltd., which raised questions concerning green hydrogen infrastructure contracts, international sales law, and commercial arbitration. The programme also included specialised mediation training.

Students had the opportunity to learn from international experts, including Prof. Dr Stefan Kröll, Florian Cahn, Katja Kröll, Dr Maciej Durbas, Dr Joseph Schwartz, Tobias Strecker, Nika Rassadina, and Prof. Dr Malgorzata Kozuch.

The Summer School brought together students from leading Ukrainian universities:
• National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (NaUKMA)
• Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv
• Odesa I.I.Mechnikov National University
• Ivan Franko National University of Lviv
• Donetsk National University named after Vasyl Stus
• National University “Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic”

The programme was organised by Deutsche Stiftung für internationale rechtliche Zusammenarbeit e.V. (IRZ) and Deutsche Institution für Schiedsgerichtsbarkeit e.V. (DIS) German Arbitration Institute, with the support of the Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection and the German Bundestag.

We are delighted that our students had access to an international educational opportunity that strengthened their practical competencies in legal argumentation, drafting, mediation, and international dispute resolution. We are confident that this experience will support them in future competitions and throughout their professional careers.

We sincerely thank IRZ, DIS, Jagiellonian University, and all the experts and trainers who made this initiative possible.
