Myroslava Antonovych Speaks at a Prestigious Conference at Harvard

Myroslava Antonovych, Doctor of Law and Associate Professor at the Department of International and European Law of the Faculty of Law at NaUKMA, delivered an online lecture at a conference organised by the Harvard Undergraduate Foreign Policy Initiative (HUFPI) as part of the Harvard University International Relations Scholars Program.

Over the four-day conference, students heard from leading international experts, including ministers, diplomats, scholars, journalists, and civil society representatives. Myroslava Antonovych’s lecture focused on the responsibility of the Russian Federation and its military and political leadership for crimes committed during Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

She noted the audience’s remarkable engagement: students asked so many questions that the discussion could have continued much longer had it not been for the scheduled lecture by the next speaker, Estonian Minister of Defence Hanno Pevkur.

The questions raised by students covered a wide range of issues, from the risks of nuclear escalation and the realistic prospects of Ukraine’s NATO membership to sanctions policy and the International Criminal Court’s ability to execute arrest warrants.

According to Myroslava Antonovych, this format of student conferences is highly effective: students not only listen but also actively engage in discussions, ask thought-provoking questions, and develop their own views on key international challenges. She thanked the HUFPI organisers for the opportunity to speak and expressed hope that a similar format could be introduced at the Faculty of Law at NaUKMA.
