Institute of German Law

The Institute of German Law at the National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” is one of the first and leading institutes for research and teaching of German law in Ukraine.

For students, the Institute offers introductory and advanced courses in German civil law and public law. The aim of the Institute is to provide students with basic knowledge of German law in German.

The institute offers lectures, conferences and seminars for students of all courses. During the course, the issues of German law proposed by leading scientific experts are considered. A lively exchange of views between lecturers and students, as well as a practical approach to solving problems, are intended to facilitate the student’s introduction to German law.

The Institute of German Law is a platform for academic and interdisciplinary research, comparative study of law based on German and Ukrainian legislation. The similarities of the past and present of Ukrainian and German law, as well as the existing problems of both legal systems, are part of the research. In particular, recent developments in Ukrainian law are analyzed against this comparative background.

The Institute promotes research and education through periodicals. These include the supervision and editing of publications in journals and newsletters for students. Other publications such as working papers and major works are also planned.

Research and education are carried out in close cooperation with national and foreign stars of German law.
